“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in Loveland, Colorado and my family moved to Kansas when I was a teen. I’ve been in/around the Kansas City area ever since. Currently I live right outside of Lawrence, KS with my husband and 3 children.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
People spend so much of their lives at work and their experience there has a deep impact in other areas of their lives. If it’s great, it trickles over. If it’s not, it also trickles over! It’s hard for me to see people struggling at work and feeling hopeless. We have more power than we often realize, and I love helping people focus on those possibilities.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I am a big Kansas Jayhawks basketball fan!

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
I coordinate the financial and operational side of the business, so you can ask me any questions related to those things. I also love to help our customers solve problems and find whatever information they need to bring more energy into the way they work!

Caroline Holstein
Chief Experience Officer

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in North Carolina and spent my twenties in New Orleans. I now live in beautiful Denver, Colorado.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
The societal impact — we spend the majority of our lives at work, and most people are pretty miserable during those hours. Think of how humanity would change if people felt energized and fulfilled instead. I think the outcome would be a kinder, happier, more appreciative world.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I have an identical twin!

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
Anything related to the Strengthscope® system or business operations. I love helping people so if you have a question and don’t know who to ask, come to me! I will find the answer or connect you with the right person on our team to help you.

Chief Curiosity Officer

Chief Technology Officer

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa – not on a farm, but surrounded by them and their principles. I now live in Estes Park, Colorado after bouncing around to mid-sized cities like KC, PDX and Denver – we feel so fortunate to have the (s)pace of a small mountain town.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
I was lucky enough to find early success as an entrepreneur — at least by business standards, and I was even luckier to realize how miserable it made me. This began my journey to create (and help create) companies where people can be at their best, while also creating the best business for them.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I stream an AM radio station every Sunday morning to listen to the same Polka show that I did growing up.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
I’m a software engineer, but I love to focus on how to create change with technology. The easiest way to explain this, is that I appreciate and understand the hammers, nails, blueprints etc, but I get really excited about the house.

Josh Allan Dykstra
Chief Energy Officer (CEO)

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in a tiny town in South Dakota and now live in Denver, Colorado, after spending a decade in Los Angeles.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
This idea may sound crazy at first, but I don’t think it is. We spend the vast majority of our waking lives in exactly one place: AT WORK. If this describes you, as it does most of us, why should you NOT love what you do? It’s the alternative that’s actually crazy.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I originally thought I’d have a career as a performing musician, and I have multiple recorded albums on Spotify and iTunes.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
If you’re looking for someone to help with big-picture strategy, workplace trends, and a clear picture of how we can create a much better future for everyone, I’m your guy.

Kyle Matthews
Chief Connecting Officer

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in Pennsylvania, but my wife and I moved to Colorado six years ago. We love visiting family back east, but are totally hooked on the Colorado lifestyle. Camping, hiking, stand up paddle boarding, and canyon drives are a must!

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
My purpose is to inspire others to live out a better story. You just can’t do that if work sucks.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I started my own business at 15 and employed a five man crew that detailed high-end automobiles. That business helped me pay for college and taught me many lessons that serve me to this day.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
If you’re curious about increasing engagement and eliminating retention issues in a manner that will affect the well-being of everyone from the janitor to the CEO, let’s chat!

Mike Morrison, PhD
Chief Transformation Officer

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in Northern California but packed up the Pinto station wagon and moved to Los Angeles with my girlfriend (now wife) to start MBA school in the 80’s. We never left and have settled into “old” LA near Hollywood.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
Work is so central to our sense of purpose and contribution – and often captures most of our waking hours. We need to love our work.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I have written a children’s picture book with my daughter and we are in the process of launching a complete series. The key theme is cultivating the “small voice” within our little ones (and re-awakening the small voice within ourselves).

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
Ask me how to simplify and systemize the ordinary so that we can have an extra-ordinary life.

Pamela Potts
Chief Partnership Officer

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in Minnesota with my elementary school years being in lake community towns. From 7th grade into my late 20s I lived in a suburb of Minneapolis. I now live in Lee’s Summit, MO which is a suburb of Kansas City, MO (go Chiefs!).

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
Life is more enjoyable, when our work is enjoyable. Someone can love what they do at work, and be still frustrated by the team and organizational culture. The part that I feel most passionate about is guiding leaders to help each person find their unique role on the team, uncover their own voice, and realizing the importance their contribution is to the team as a whole.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I love music, am classically trained, and used to be a piano and voice instructor.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
If you want to build a culture that is built on a solid foundation of trust, collaboration, and respect, I’d love to help you create that!

Tiffany Pusey
Chief Communications Officer

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up and currently live on the beautiful island of Jamaica, located in the West Indies. Currently, I reside in the parish of St. Catherine, approximately 10 minutes from the beach.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
On average, people spend 13 years of their entire lives at work (…that’s a long time). Wouldn’t it be amazing to be actively aligned with work that fulfills and energizes you?

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I once had dreadlocks.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
Ask me anything related to business operations or the Strengthscope® system, I’m ready and waiting to assist!

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in Delmar, New York, just outside of Albany. When I was twenty, I was asked to come to San Francisco for six weeks to be part of the launch of the California League of Conservation Voters. I fell in love with the Bay Area right after I landed and never left.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
I want to be a part of a world where everyone can love life! What we do for work should be an extension of what we love about our lives. Life is short, so it is important to actively participate in it.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I wrote a children’s book called “The Impossible Splinter” (inspired by my daughter, all about the power of possibility). I am the process of getting it illustrated and hope to publish it.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
If you need someone to help you think both strategically and creatively about how to bring humanistic approaches to create an inclusive and equitable work culture I am happy to help. And if you need a coach to be there to support your growth and help you discover what truly motivates you, I am that person.

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
Both my husband and I are from New Jersey. We grew up in Bergen County and raised our two children in Hunterdon County. During this time my husband started climbing 14ers in Colorado and fell in love. In 2019 we moved to beautiful central Colorado, to a wonderful community set in a valley with the Collegiate Peaks on one side and the Arkansas River on the other.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I have had over 20 different careers since I graduated from college; I have worked in hospitals, schools, corporations, been in outside sales, and managed and developed others from a home office.

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
I am dismayed to report that in whatever milieu I worked in, most of my managers and the systems we inherited created a toxic workspace. When I became a manager, I vowed that I wanted to do something different. I used strength-based management and know that it works. An energy-based approach is the next level up, and I am passionate about bringing this to as many people, corporations, physicians, hospitals, and other medical personnel that I can.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
I am energized by relationship building, empathy, and developing others. I also have an uncanny sense for remembering conversations and love to connect others who may assist each other. Call me if you need any help; if I can’t assist you, I will find someone that can!

Expertise: Healthcare Systems

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew up in many different towns and cities all in the Midwest of the U.S. — currently, I live in Leawood, KS (a suburb of Kansas City)

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
We spend the majority of our lives “working” so I think it is important and very possible to have strong positive emotions (aka “love”) about this extension of ourselves.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I am more passionate about “loving work” now that I am retired. I have worked a very long time and I have been fortunate that most days I loved my work. So now, being retired, I have the opportunity to find and focus on my life’s Work (yes the capital W is intentional); knowing what energizes me has helped me find meaning and joy.

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
Ask me about ways to collaborate, develop others, and lead in new and different situations.

Peter Tighe
Expertise: Company Culture

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
Grew up in Pecan Grove, TX and now live in Broomfield, CO

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
Because work shouldn’t suck and is actually healing.

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I’m actually 5′ 12″

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
Humanizing the workplace.

Tom Myers, PhD
Expertise: Higher Education

“Where did you grow up and where do you live now?”
I grew-up in the western mountains of Maine, went to college in upstate New York, and then moved to Vermont in the late 1980s as a ski racing coach and never left the “Green Mountain State.”

“Why are you passionate about creating a world where everyone can love work?”
I love the opportunity to help others to discover the strengths they inherently possess and the energy they derive when optimally applying those strengths to their work. I equate it to providing people with their own powerful and unique “treasure map.”

“What’s one surprising thing we should know about you?”
I was a door-to-door milkman delivering fresh milk in glass bottles. It was the first business I started. So, today my wife can legitimately say, “My children’s father really IS the milkman.”

“Let’s say I need help with something Helios-related; what kinds of things should I ask YOU about?”
How to help students (and anyone) align their strengths and energies to create a positive and generative learning environment. This is an environment where they thrive and are truly excited about learning and growing. I get excited to help others discover and develop their unique strengths to create a fulfilling career/life that provides them with meaning and purpose.

Helios runs an Energy-Based Operating System (ebOS).

For us, "culture" is best described as the "operating system" of an organization. And we don't just teach this approach, we live it every single day.

The Energy-Based Operating System (ebOS) is exactly what provides our small organization with the efficiency and energy to work with some of the largest and most respected brands on the planet. Want to know a bit more about how it works for us?

Our Magnet

What you saw at the top of this page... it's our boss, our noble cause: to create a world where everyone can love work.

For everyone who works here and everyone who joins the Tribe, this idea is powerfully magnetic; it draws us in to the point where we become quite obsessed with the cause.

Our Riverbanks

These are the "guardrails" that keep our collective energy flowing constructively towards our noble cause.

For us, they mostly live in two artifacts: our Vital Behaviors (our behavioral take on "values") and our CultureBook (our take on an organizational "constitution").

Open Batteries

This is our daily practice of individually deepening our energy intelligence to understand what powers our best work.

We use Strengthscope® to start this, and the Helios Approach keeps it alive. Teaching you how to implement all of this is the focus of Helios Launch.

WHO WE ARE

Helios is a tribe of organizational "change makers." We are leaders, progressive HR folks, consultants, and coaches committed to helping create a world where everyone can love work.

It's a big mission that sounds deeply altruistic — and it is, but that's not all it is.

While we do care (quite a lot) about increasing the well-being of people working everywhere, we also see something most organizations have been missing: the true path to more efficiency and greater productivity.

Peak performance that looks like magic is closely related to states of flow and energy alignment. And these things cannot be coerced, but must be drawn out.

This is why the organization of the future is heliocentric — imagine what we can accomplish when our workplaces actually GIVE us energy to be at our best.
